1212 A RESOLUTION to honor Dr. Clint A. Satterfield on the occasion
1313 of his retirement as Director of Schools for
1414 Trousdale County.

1616 WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly take great pleasure in recognizing a
1717 dedicated professional who has contributed significantly to the progress of public education
1818 during his long and distinguished career; and
1919 WHEREAS, Dr. Clint A. Satterfield is retiring from Trousdale County Schools after more
2020 than forty years spent developing the county's students into responsible citizens with bright
2121 futures; and
2222 WHEREAS, Dr. Satterfield has positively impacted his community as Director of Schools
2323 for Trousdale County since 2007, when he retired from coaching; and
2424 WHEREAS, Dr. Satterfield created the unified vision and mission statement for the
2525 school system, "Accelerating and Graduating All Students for the Careers of Tomorrow"; and
2626 WHEREAS, under his leadership, Trousdale County has been recognized as one of the
2727 top school districts in Tennessee since 2012 and was named School District of the Year by
2828 SCORE in 2013 and 2015, thus becoming the only two-time winner in the history of the
2929 prestigious award; and
3030 WHEREAS, Trousdale County Schools achieved "Exemplary School" designations from
3131 the Department of Education in 2012, 2019, 2022, 2023, and 2024, and all three of the county's
3232 schools have been named "Reward Schools" in multiple school years; and
3333 WHEREAS, Trousdale County was recognized as a "Best For All" school district in 2022
3434 for its strategic spending of federal COVID-19 relief funds to improve student achievement, and
3535 Trousdale County High School was honored as a National Blue Ribbon School in 2015; and

4040 WHEREAS, the son of Jim and Eleanor Satterfield, Dr. Satterfield began his illustrious
4141 coaching career in 1983 as an assistant football coach at Trousdale County High School; he
4242 was promoted to the role of head coach in 1984, thus beginning a distinguished twenty-four-
4343 year tenure; and
4444 WHEREAS, throughout his career, Dr. Satterfield not only followed but also built upon
4545 the legacy of his father, Jim Satterfield, a fellow TSSAA Hall of Fame inductee and respected
4646 football coach at Trousdale County; under Dr. Clint Satterfield's guidance, his teams amassed
4747 an impressive record of 239 wins against only 61 losses, an astounding winning percentage of
4848 eighty percent; and
4949 WHEREAS, his dedication to Trousdale County High School athletics and his
5050 Yellowjacket teams yielded five TSSAA State championships (1990, 1993, 1997, 1998, and
5151 2005) and set a high standard for future generations; and
5252 WHEREAS, Dr. Satterfield's influence extended beyond the high school level, as he
5353 spent seventeen years as a football coach at Satterfield Middle School, which is named in honor
5454 of his father, a designation that speaks to the family's deep ties to the sport and the community;

5656 WHEREAS, in addition to his football coaching responsibilities, Dr. Satterfield
5757 contributed significantly as the athletic director at Trousdale County for seven years and as the
5858 head baseball coach from 1988 to 1991; and
5959 WHEREAS, named State Coach of the Year numerous times, Dr. Satterfield received
6060 the prestigious A. F. Bridges Award in 2000, an honor that further demonstrates his remarkable
6161 achievements and dedication to excellence and sportsmanship; and
6262 WHEREAS, his induction into the TSSAA Hall of Fame in 2016 is a fitting tribute to his
6363 contributions to TSSAA and high school sports in Tennessee, as it celebrates a legacy that
6464 encompasses both winning records and the shaping of character in young athletes; and

6969 WHEREAS, Dr. Clint Satterfield has dedicated his career to providing educational
7070 opportunities for the children of Trousdale County as a coach, teacher, mentor, and finally as
7171 Director of Schools, and this peerless gentleman is deserving of our approbation on this special
7272 occasion; now, therefore,
7373 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH
7474 GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF
7575 REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we honor Dr. Clint A. Satterfield on the occasion of
7676 his retirement as Director of Trousdale County Schools and extend to him our best wishes for
7777 much continued success in his future endeavors. "Well done, good and faithful servant."
7878 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
7979 for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
8080 the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
8181 without House or Senate designation.
