16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly take great pleasure in recognizing a |
---|
17 | 17 | | dedicated professional who has contributed significantly to the progress of public education |
---|
18 | 18 | | during his long and distinguished career; and |
---|
19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Clint A. Satterfield is retiring from Trousdale County Schools after more |
---|
20 | 20 | | than forty years spent developing the county's students into responsible citizens with bright |
---|
21 | 21 | | futures; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Satterfield has positively impacted his community as Director of Schools |
---|
23 | 23 | | for Trousdale County since 2007, when he retired from coaching; and |
---|
24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Satterfield created the unified vision and mission statement for the |
---|
25 | 25 | | school system, "Accelerating and Graduating All Students for the Careers of Tomorrow"; and |
---|
26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, under his leadership, Trousdale County has been recognized as one of the |
---|
27 | 27 | | top school districts in Tennessee since 2012 and was named School District of the Year by |
---|
28 | 28 | | SCORE in 2013 and 2015, thus becoming the only two-time winner in the history of the |
---|
29 | 29 | | prestigious award; and |
---|
30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Trousdale County Schools achieved "Exemplary School" designations from |
---|
31 | 31 | | the Department of Education in 2012, 2019, 2022, 2023, and 2024, and all three of the county's |
---|
32 | 32 | | schools have been named "Reward Schools" in multiple school years; and |
---|
33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Trousdale County was recognized as a "Best For All" school district in 2022 |
---|
34 | 34 | | for its strategic spending of federal COVID-19 relief funds to improve student achievement, and |
---|
35 | 35 | | Trousdale County High School was honored as a National Blue Ribbon School in 2015; and |
---|

40 | 40 | | WHEREAS, the son of Jim and Eleanor Satterfield, Dr. Satterfield began his illustrious |

41 | 41 | | coaching career in 1983 as an assistant football coach at Trousdale County High School; he |
---|
42 | 42 | | was promoted to the role of head coach in 1984, thus beginning a distinguished twenty-four- |
---|
43 | 43 | | year tenure; and |
---|
44 | 44 | | WHEREAS, throughout his career, Dr. Satterfield not only followed but also built upon |
---|
45 | 45 | | the legacy of his father, Jim Satterfield, a fellow TSSAA Hall of Fame inductee and respected |
---|
46 | 46 | | football coach at Trousdale County; under Dr. Clint Satterfield's guidance, his teams amassed |
---|
47 | 47 | | an impressive record of 239 wins against only 61 losses, an astounding winning percentage of |
---|
48 | 48 | | eighty percent; and |
---|
49 | 49 | | WHEREAS, his dedication to Trousdale County High School athletics and his |
---|
50 | 50 | | Yellowjacket teams yielded five TSSAA State championships (1990, 1993, 1997, 1998, and |
---|
51 | 51 | | 2005) and set a high standard for future generations; and |
---|
52 | 52 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Satterfield's influence extended beyond the high school level, as he |
---|
53 | 53 | | spent seventeen years as a football coach at Satterfield Middle School, which is named in honor |
---|
54 | 54 | | of his father, a designation that speaks to the family's deep ties to the sport and the community; |
---|
55 | 55 | | and |
---|
56 | 56 | | WHEREAS, in addition to his football coaching responsibilities, Dr. Satterfield |
---|
57 | 57 | | contributed significantly as the athletic director at Trousdale County for seven years and as the |
---|
58 | 58 | | head baseball coach from 1988 to 1991; and |
---|
59 | 59 | | WHEREAS, named State Coach of the Year numerous times, Dr. Satterfield received |
---|
60 | 60 | | the prestigious A. F. Bridges Award in 2000, an honor that further demonstrates his remarkable |
---|
61 | 61 | | achievements and dedication to excellence and sportsmanship; and |
---|
62 | 62 | | WHEREAS, his induction into the TSSAA Hall of Fame in 2016 is a fitting tribute to his |
---|
63 | 63 | | contributions to TSSAA and high school sports in Tennessee, as it celebrates a legacy that |
---|
64 | 64 | | encompasses both winning records and the shaping of character in young athletes; and |
---|

69 | 69 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Clint Satterfield has dedicated his career to providing educational |

71 | 71 | | Director of Schools, and this peerless gentleman is deserving of our approbation on this special |
---|
72 | 72 | | occasion; now, therefore, |

73 | 73 | | BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH |

75 | 75 | | REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we honor Dr. Clint A. Satterfield on the occasion of |
