1212 A RESOLUTION to honor and recognize Nashville Severe
1313 Weather for its dedicated service in providing
1414 timely and accurate weather information to the
1515 communities of Davidson and Williamson
1616 counties.

1818 WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly are proud to recognize those
1919 organizations that have demonstrated a steadfast commitment to the safety and well-being of
2020 the citizens of Tennessee; and
2121 WHEREAS, one such esteemed organization is Nashville Severe Weather, which
2222 initially provided localized weather updates via Twitter to inform friends and neighbors in
2323 Nashville and Franklin; and
2424 WHEREAS, founded in 2010 by David Drobny, Nashville Severe Weather expanded its
2525 team in November 2011 with the addition of Will Minkoff, and grew again in September 2015
2626 when Andrew Leeper joined, forming a dedicated trio focused on delivering precise local
2727 weather information to the public; and
2828 WHEREAS, providing information specifically tailored for Davidson and Williamson
2929 counties, Nashville Severe Weather has been instrumental in disseminating critical weather
3030 forecasts, watches, warnings, and real-time commentary on severe weather events, including
3131 hail, severe winds, lightning, tornadoes, and snow; and
3232 WHEREAS, Nashville Severe Weather collaborates closely with the National Weather
3333 Service (NWS) as partners, coordinating and relaying real-time severe and winter weather
3434 reports through the #tSpotter initiative, thereby enhancing the accuracy and timeliness of
3535 weather warnings and advisories; and

4040 WHEREAS, in recognition of its outstanding public service, Nashville Severe Weather
4141 and the #tSpotter initiative were honored with the National Weather Association's Walter J.
4242 Bennett Public Service Award in 2016, underscoring their significant contributions to the field of
4343 meteorology and community safety; and
4444 WHEREAS, Nashville Severe Weather has also established an intern program, which
4545 commenced on May 2, 2013, with Yasser Kishk serving as the inaugural intern; the program
4646 provides aspiring meteorologists with valuable experience and contributes to the organization's
4747 mission of delivering high-quality weather information; and
4848 WHEREAS, the dedication and passion of David Drobny, Will Minkoff, and Andrew
4949 Leeper, who reside and work within the communities they serve, have transformed a personal
5050 hobby into an invaluable public resource, exemplifying community service and the volunteer
5151 spirit; and
5252 WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that we recognize Nashville Severe Weather for its
5353 unwavering commitment to providing accurate and timely weather information, thereby
5454 safeguarding the lives and property of Tennesseans; now, therefore,
5555 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH
5656 GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HO USE OF
5757 REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we honor and commend Nashville Severe Weather
5858 for its exceptional service to the communities of Davidson and Williamson counties, extend our
5959 deepest gratitude for its contributions to public safety, and offer our best wishes for its continued
