1515 U.S. Army Reserve.

1717 WHEREAS, the contributions and sacrifices of the men and women who have served in
1818 the United States Army Reserve since its inception in 1908 have been vital in maintaining our
1919 freedoms and way of life; and
2020 WHEREAS, the U.S. Army Reserve will celebrate its 117

2222 birthday on April 23, 2025,
2323 commemorating its establishment and more than a century of building and delivering combat-
2424 ready soldiers and formations when the nation calls; and
2525 WHEREAS, in an increasingly complex global environment, today's Army Reserve is a
2626 critical component in supporting and sustaining the Army as it responds to acute threats from
2727 across the globe; and
2828 WHEREAS, the Army provides the bulk of sustainment forces to the Joint fight, and the
2929 bulk of these capabilities reside in the Army Reserve, which means the Joint force cannot
3030 deploy, fight, and win without the Army Reserve; and
3131 WHEREAS, the Army Reserve stands ready to answer the call, providing critical
3232 capabilities and ensuring the Army's readiness for every mission, helping the force meet any
3333 challenge; and
3434 WHEREAS, Army Reserve soldiers balance civilian life and military readiness,
3535 embodying resilience, adaptability, and dedication to mission success; and
3636 WHEREAS, reservists serve their country while also contributing to their communities
3737 and civilian careers, embodying the strength and resilience of our nation; and

4242 WHEREAS, the Army Reserve has a sizeable presence across the State of Tennessee,
4343 with twelve facilities, 3,500 soldiers, and an annual economic impact exceeding $158 million;
4444 and
4545 WHEREAS, throughout the last 117 years since the inception of a federal reserve force,
4646 citizen-soldiers have aided the Army and saved lives, proving that Army Reserve Soldiers
4747 serving part time are integral to how the U.S. military operates; and
4848 WHEREAS, it is most fitting that we pause to reflect on the important contributions and
4949 sacrifices of those who have served in the United States Army Reserve since its founding; now,
5050 therefore,
5151 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH
5252 GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF
5353 REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we commemorate the United States Army Reserve's

5656 anniversary and acknowledge and honor the contributions of all members, past and
5757 present, to the principles of democracy, individual freedom, and human rights.
5858 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
5959 for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
6060 the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
6161 without House or Senate designation.
