1212 A RESOLUTION to commend the Tennessee Chapter of Delta
1313 Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., for their Delta Days
1414 at the Capitol.

1616 WHEREAS, it is fitting that we should honor and specially commend those distinguished
1717 organizations whose stated goals advance the most noble precepts of human endeavors and
1818 whose history of service in pursuit of those goals stands as a shining example to the citizens of
1919 this great State; and
2020 WHEREAS, one such estimable organization that evinces the greatest integrity and
2121 probity in all its chosen endeavors is the Tennessee Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority,
2222 Inc., which will host the fifteenth annual Delta Days at the Capitol on February 17-18, 2025; and
2323 WHEREAS, Tennessee's first Delta Days at the Capitol was held February 22-23, 2010,
2424 and featured informative workshops on various social action topics, including HIV/AIDS, the
2525 housing crisis, economic development, and the State education system; there was also a
2626 townhall meeting titled Healthcare: Key Issues Facing African Americans; and
2727 WHEREAS, the chairs and sponsors for this year's Delta Days at the Capitol are
2828 Chandra L. Wilson, Tennessee Social Action Coordinator and Chattanooga Alumnae; Celia
2929 Conley, Tennessee Social Action Co-Coordinator and Nashville Alumnae; Jessica Rich, Delta
3030 Days at the Capitol Host and Co-Coordinator and Nashville Metropolitan Alumnae; Michelle
3131 Steele, Delta Days at the Capitol Host and Co-Coordinator and Nashville Metropolitan Alumnae;
3232 and Senator Raumesh Akbari, Honorary Delta Days at the Capitol Co-Chair and Memphis
3333 Alumnae; and
3434 WHEREAS, once again, the respected members of the Tennessee Chapter of Delta
3535 Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., will gather for Delta Days at the Capitol, during which time these

4040 incredible women from across the State will learn about advocacy approaches to address social
4141 change and develop a structured plan to improve public policies; and
4242 WHEREAS, the women of the Tennessee Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.,
4343 are wholly committed to the noble precepts of public service that have earned Tennessee
4444 recognition as the Volunteer State; now, therefore,
4545 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH
4646 GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, that we commend the members of
4747 the Tennessee Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., for their Delta Days at the Capitol,
4848 extending our gratitude for their exemplary service to their respective communities and
4949 applauding their efforts to improve the policies of the State and the well-being of its citizens.
5050 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
5151 for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy.
