15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, it is fitting that we should salute those citizens who, through their |

16 | 16 | | extraordinary efforts and artistic contributions, have distinguished themselves as community |

17 | 17 | | leaders of whom we can all be proud; and |

18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, one such noteworthy person is Kyle Whalum, a talented bass player, |
---|
19 | 19 | | songwriter, singer, and producer who has earned recognition and acclaim through his work with |

20 | 20 | | renowned artists such as Katy Perry and Kelly Clarkson; and |
---|
21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Whalum hails from the highly respected Whalum family of Memphis, the |
---|
22 | 22 | | members of which, over four generations, have distinguished themselves time and again in the |
---|
23 | 23 | | fields of music, worship, and public service; and |
---|
24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Kyle Whalum is the son of the acclaimed saxophonist Kirk Whalum, cousin |

25 | 25 | | to saxophone player Kenneth Whalum, and nephew to jazz singer/songwriter Kevin Whalum, |
---|
26 | 26 | | and he has continued the family legacy of excellence in music; and |
---|
27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Whalum epitomizes the spirit and commitment to family and community |
---|
28 | 28 | | that are characteristic of a true Tennessean; and |

29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, it is appropriate that we acknowledge and applaud Kyle Whalum for his |

30 | 30 | | commitment to excellence in music and beyond; now, therefore, |

31 | 31 | | BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH |
