14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, it is fitting that we should pause to honor and specially commend those |

15 | 15 | | distinguished organizations whose stated goals advance the most noble precepts of human |
---|
16 | 16 | | endeavors and whose history of service in pursuit of those goals stands as an outstanding |
---|
17 | 17 | | example to the citizens of this great State; and |
---|
18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, one such estimable organization that evinces the greatest integrity and |
---|
19 | 19 | | probity in all its chosen endeavors is The Links, Incorporated; and |
---|
20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated is an international, not-for-profit corporation |
---|
21 | 21 | | composed of more than 16,000 professional women of color who are committed to enhancing |
---|
22 | 22 | | the quality of life in their respective communities, which are served by 292 chapters located in |
---|
23 | 23 | | forty-one states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, and the United |
---|
24 | 24 | | Kingdom; and |
---|
25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, accomplished, dedicated women who are active in public and charitable |
---|
26 | 26 | | programs, the members of The Links, Incorporated are some of the most influential women in |
---|
27 | 27 | | the world; they are business and civic leaders, role models, mentors, activists, and volunteers, |
---|
28 | 28 | | and they work assiduously toward a common vision by making The Links, Incorporated |
---|
29 | 29 | | synonymous with not only a chain of friendship, but also a chain of purposeful public service; |

31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated is one of the nation's oldest and largest volunteer |

32 | 32 | | service organizations, and it is committed to enriching, sustaining, and ensuring the cultural and |

34 | 34 | | is the recipient of prestigious awards from the UN Association of New York and the Leon H. |

46 | 46 | | WHEREAS, on a practical level, The Links, Incorporated seeks to facilitate positive |

49 | 49 | | WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated's one-million-dollar contributions to the NAACP |

50 | 50 | | Legal Defense and Education Fund, the United Negro College Fund, and the National Civil |

51 | 51 | | Rights Museum in Memphis have served to perpetuate educational opportunity and |

52 | 52 | | advancement and have furthered justice throughout this great land; and |

53 | 53 | | WHEREAS, once again, on March 10, 2025, the respected members will gather for The |

54 | 54 | | Links Day on Capitol Hill, during which time these incredible women from across the State will |

55 | 55 | | hear from their local legislators to discuss bills that impact the members' communities; and |

56 | 56 | | WHEREAS, the women of The Links, Incorporated are wholly committed to the noble |
---|
57 | 57 | | precepts of public service that have earned Tennessee recognition as the Volunteer State. As |

58 | 58 | | ambassadors of those very precepts, whether they are Tennesseans or honorary Tennesseans, |
---|
59 | 59 | | the members of The Links, Incorporated should be specially recognized; now, therefore, |

60 | 60 | | BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH |
