12	12	A RESOLUTION to honor and congratulate Jasper Clark upon
13	13	winning first place in the 2025 National Civics
14	14	Bee Lawrence County Finals.

16	16	WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this legislative body should pay tribute to
17	17	those students who, through their natural talents and unflagging commitment to academic
18	18	excellence, have distinguished themselves in the classroom and their community; and
19	19	WHEREAS, Jasper Clark is one such exceptional student, who, for the second
20	20	consecutive year, won first place in the 2025 National Civics Bee competition hosted by the
21	21	Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce on March 14, 2025, at the Southern Tennessee
22	22	Higher Education Center; and
23	23	WHEREAS, the National Civics Bee is a nationwide initiative that inspires young people
24	24	to engage in civics and play an active role in their communities; and
25	25	WHEREAS, among more than 220 essay submissions, each addressing a community
26	26	issue and proposing a thoughtful solution, twenty middle school students were selected as
27	27	finalists and competed in a live quiz event to test their civics knowledge; and
28	28	WHEREAS, a student at Summertown Middle School, where he is highly regarded by
29	29	his peers, Jasper Clark has achieved academic success and has readied himself to become an
30	30	active and conscientious citizen; and
31	31	WHEREAS, in winning first place in the National Civics Bee Lawrence County Finals,
32	32	Mr. Clark will advance to compete in the National Civics Bee Tennessee State Finals in June;

34	34	WHEREAS, his display of intellectual aptitude and ambition surely bodes well for his
35	35	future success; and

40	40	WHEREAS, Jasper Clark's achievement is a tremendous source of pride for his family,
41	41	his school, and his community; and
42	42	WHEREAS, Mr. Clark's dedication to excellence is clearly deserving of our respect,
43	43	admiration, and commendation; now, therefore,
44	44	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH
45	45	GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, that we honor and congratulate
46	46	Jasper Clark upon winning first place in the 2025 National Civics Bee Lawrence County Finals,
47	47	hosted by the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce, and extend to him our best wishes for
48	48	every continued success and happiness.
49	49	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
50	50	for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy.
