12	12	A RESOLUTION to honor and congratulate Leevi Hicks upon
13	13	winning third place in the 2025 National Civics
14	14	Bee Lawrence County Finals.

16	16	WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this legislative body should pay tribute to
17	17	those students who, through their natural talents and unflagging commitment to academic
18	18	excellence, have distinguished themselves in the classroom and their community; and
19	19	WHEREAS, Leevi Hicks is one such exceptional student, who recently won third place in
20	20	the local 2025 National Civics Bee competition hosted by the Lawrence County Chamber of
21	21	Commerce on March 14, 2025, at the Southern Tennessee Higher Education Center; and
22	22	WHEREAS, the National Civics Bee is a nationwide initiative that inspires young people
23	23	to engage in civics and play an active role in their communities; and
24	24	WHEREAS, among more than 220 essay submissions, each addressing a community
25	25	issue and proposing a thoughtful solution, twenty middle school students were selected as
26	26	finalists and competed in a live quiz event to test their civics knowledge; and
27	27	WHEREAS, a student at South Lawrence Middle School, where he is highly regarded by
28	28	his peers, Leevi Hicks has achieved academic success and has readied himself to become an
29	29	active and conscientious citizen; and
30	30	WHEREAS, in winning third place in the National Civics Bee Lawrence County Finals,
31	31	Mr. Hicks will advance to compete in the National Civics Bee Tennessee State Finals in June;
32	32	and
33	33	WHEREAS, his display of intellectual aptitude and ambition surely bodes well for his
34	34	future success; and

39	39	WHEREAS, Leevi Hicks's achievement is a tremendous source of pride for his family,
40	40	his school, and his community; and
41	41	WHEREAS, Mr. Hicks's dedication to excellence is clearly deserving of our respect,
42	42	admiration, and commendation; now, therefore,
43	43	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH
44	44	GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, that we honor and congratulate
45	45	Leevi Hicks upon winning third place in the 2025 National Civics Bee Lawrence County Finals,
46	46	hosted by the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce, and extend to him our best wishes for
47	47	every continued success and happiness.
48	48	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
49	49	for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy.
