| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this legislative body should pause to pay |

| 17 | 17 | | tribute to those students who, through their natural talents and unflagging commitment to |

| 18 | 18 | | academic excellence, have distinguished themselves in the classroom; and |

| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Akeelah Phillips is one such exceptional student, who was recently named |

| 20 | 20 | | Salutatorian of the 2025 graduating class at the Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering; |

| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, through diligent study, steady composure during examinations, and |

| 23 | 23 | | steadfast commitment of time and talent, Ms. Phillips has achieved outstanding academic |

| 24 | 24 | | success and joined the ranks of the best and brightest students in Tennessee and our country; |

| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, in her remarkable high school career, Akeelah Phillips has earned an |

| 27 | 27 | | exemplary grade point average while participating in numerous extracurricular activities; and |

| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Akeelah Phillips's display of intellectual aptitude and ambition surely bodes |
