8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 39, Utilities Code, is | |
10 | 10 | amended by adding Section 39.111 to read as follows: | |
11 | 11 | Sec. 39.111. NOTICE OF CONTRACT EXPIRATION. A retail | |
12 | 12 | electric provider shall include on the front of a customer's | |
13 | 13 | billing statement, prominently displayed, the expiration date of | |
14 | 14 | the customer's contract, if applicable. | |
15 | 15 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | |
16 | 16 | to a contract for retail electric services entered into or renewed | |
17 | 17 | on or after the effective date of this Act. A contract for retail | |
18 | 18 | electric services entered into or renewed before the effective date | |
19 | 19 | of this Act is governed by the law as it existed immediately before | |
20 | 20 | the effective date of this Act, and that law is continued in effect | |
21 | 21 | for that purpose. | |
22 | 22 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
