55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to a public school teacher's entitlement to a certain
88 number of planning and preparation days each school year.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 25.081, Education Code, is amended by
1111 adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:
1212 (c) Each school year, a classroom teacher is entitled to at
1313 least three days for instructional preparation. A classroom
1414 teacher may not be required to participate in any other activity,
1515 including parent-teacher conferences, on a day scheduled for
1616 planning and preparation under this subsection.
1717 SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2009-2010
1818 school year.
1919 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2020 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2121 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2222 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2323 Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
