9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 25.081, Education Code, is amended by | |
11 | 11 | adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (c) Each school year, a classroom teacher is entitled to at | |
13 | 13 | least three days for instructional preparation. A classroom | |
14 | 14 | teacher may not be required to participate in any other activity, | |
15 | 15 | including parent-teacher conferences, on a day scheduled for | |
16 | 16 | planning and preparation under this subsection. | |
17 | 17 | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2009-2010 | |
18 | 18 | school year. | |
19 | 19 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
20 | 20 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
21 | 21 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
22 | 22 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
23 | 23 | Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
