9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Chapter 62, Election Code, is amended by adding | |
11 | 11 | Section 62.0112 to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 62.0112. NOTICE OF VOTER COMPLAINT INFORMATION. (a) | |
13 | 13 | At one or more locations in the polling place easily visible to | |
14 | 14 | voters, the presiding judge shall post notice in a form prescribed | |
15 | 15 | by the secretary of state that informs voters of who to call or | |
16 | 16 | write to if a voter has a complaint about the conduct of the | |
17 | 17 | election. | |
18 | 18 | (b) The notice must: | |
19 | 19 | (1) be printed in at least 200-point Times New Roman | |
20 | 20 | font; | |
21 | 21 | (2) include the telephone number for the voting rights | |
22 | 22 | hotline established by the secretary of state under Section | |
23 | 23 | 31.0055; | |
24 | 24 | (3) include any available telephone number dedicated | |
25 | 25 | to reporting complaints about the local election official that is | |
26 | 26 | administering the election; and | |
27 | 27 | (4) include mailing addresses or Internet websites, as | |
28 | 28 | available, to which voters may direct complaints to the federal, | |
29 | 29 | state, or local governments about the conduct of elections. | |
30 | 30 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
