77 relating to requiring the posting of notice of voter complaint
88 information at a polling place.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Chapter 62, Election Code, is amended by adding
1111 Section 62.0112 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 62.0112. NOTICE OF VOTER COMPLAINT INFORMATION. (a)
1313 At one or more locations in the polling place easily visible to
1414 voters, the presiding judge shall post notice in a form prescribed
1515 by the secretary of state that informs voters of who to call or
1616 write to if a voter has a complaint about the conduct of the
1717 election.
1818 (b) The notice must:
1919 (1) be printed in at least 200-point Times New Roman
2020 font;
2121 (2) include the telephone number for the voting rights
2222 hotline established by the secretary of state under Section
2323 31.0055;
2424 (3) include any available telephone number dedicated
2525 to reporting complaints about the local election official that is
2626 administering the election; and
2727 (4) include mailing addresses or Internet websites, as
2828 available, to which voters may direct complaints to the federal,
2929 state, or local governments about the conduct of elections.
3030 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
