| 5 | 5 | | relating to the information about certain candidates required to be |

| 6 | 6 | | filed with the secretary of state. |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Section 172.029(a), Election Code, is amended to |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | read as follows: |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | (a) For each general primary election, the state chair and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | each county chair shall prepare a list containing: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | (1) the name of each candidate who files an |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | application for a place on the ballot with the chair, as the name is |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | to appear on the ballot; |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (2) [, and containing] the candidate's address as |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | shown on the application; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (3) the date on which the candidate filed the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | application. |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | SECTION 2. Section 181.032(b), Election Code, is amended to |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | read as follows: |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (b) Not later than the 10th day after the date of the filing |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | deadline prescribed by Section 181.033, the authority with whom an |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | application is filed shall deliver to the secretary of state a list |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | containing: |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (1) each candidate's name; |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | (2) each candidate's [and] residence address; |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | (3) [and] the office sought by the candidate; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | (4) the date on which the candidate filed the |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | application. |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
