99 relating to the administration of the Juvenile Justice Case
1010 Management System.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Section 58.403, Family Code, is amended to read
1313 as follows:
1414 Sec. 58.403. JUVENILE INFORMATION SYSTEM. (a) Through the
1515 adoption of an interlocal contract under Chapter 791, Government
1616 Code, with one or more counties, the [The] commission [in
1717 partnership with local counties] may participate in and assist
1818 counties in the creation, operation, and maintenance of a
1919 [statewide] system that is intended for statewide use to:
2020 (1) aid in processing the cases of children under this
2121 title;
2222 (2) facilitate the delivery of services to children in
2323 the juvenile justice system;
2424 (3) aid in the early identification of at-risk and
2525 delinquent children; and
2626 (4) facilitate cross-jurisdictional sharing of
2727 information related to juvenile offenders between authorized
2828 criminal and juvenile justice agencies and partner agencies.
2929 (b) The commission may use funds appropriated for the
3030 implementation of this section to pay costs incurred under an
3131 interlocal contract described by Subsection (a), including license
3232 fees, maintenance and operations costs, administrative costs, and
3333 any other costs specified in the interlocal contract.
3434 (c) The commission may provide training services to
3535 counties on the use and operation of a system created, operated, or
3636 maintained by one or more counties under Subsection (a).
3737 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
