| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 22.004(m), Education Code, is amended to | |
| 11 | 11 | read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (m) Notwithstanding any other law, group health benefit | |
| 13 | 13 | coverage provided by or offered through a district to district | |
| 14 | 14 | employees under any law [other than Subsection (a)] is subject to | |
| 15 | 15 | the requirements of Sections 1501.102-1501.105, Insurance Code. | |
| 16 | 16 | This section applies to all group health benefit coverage provided | |
| 17 | 17 | by or offered through a district to district employees, including: | |
| 18 | 18 | (1) a standard health benefit plan issued under | |
| 19 | 19 | [Article 3.80 or 20A.09N or] Chapter 1507, Insurance Code; and | |
| 20 | 20 | (2) health and accident coverage provided through a | |
| 21 | 21 | risk pool established under Chapter 172, Local Government Code. | |
| 22 | 22 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
