77 relating to an application to run for political office.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Section 141.032, Election Code, is amended by
1010 adding Subsection (g) to read as follows:
1111 (g) A candidate may not amend an application after the
1212 application is filed, and the authority with whom the application
1313 is filed may not accept an amendment to the application.
1414 SECTION 2. Section 141.062, Election Code, is amended by
1515 adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:
1616 (c) A candidate may not amend a petition in lieu of a filing
1717 fee submitted with the candidate's application, and the authority
1818 with whom the application is filed may not accept an amendment to a
1919 petition in lieu of a filing fee submitted with the candidate's
2020 application.
2121 SECTION 3. The change in law made by this Act applies only
2222 to a candidate's application for a place on the ballot that is filed
2323 on or after the effective date of this Act. An application for a
2424 place on the ballot filed before the effective date of this Act is
2525 governed by the law in effect on the date the application was filed,
2626 and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose.
2727 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
