77 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
88 SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 52, Government Code, is
99 amended by adding Section 52.049 to read as follows:
1010 Sec. 52.049. ADDITIONAL DISTRICT COURT REPORTERS IN NUECES
1111 COUNTY. (a) The judges of the district courts in Nueces County
1212 may employ additional official court reporters to serve the
1313 district courts in Nueces County if a majority of the district court
1414 judges believe more official court reporters are necessary.
1515 (b) The district court judges shall, by majority vote,
1616 determine the method of hiring the additional official court
1717 reporters.
1818 (c) The presiding judge of the district courts of Nueces
1919 County shall determine the assignments of the additional official
2020 court reporters.
2121 (d) The total number of official court reporters serving the
2222 district courts of Nueces County may not exceed the amount that
2323 equals one and one-half full-time employees multiplied by the
2424 number of district courts in Nueces County.
2525 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
