99 relating to creating a recognition day in honor of Charles
1010 Bellinger Stewart.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 662, Government Code, is
1313 amended by adding Section 662.056 to read as follows:
1414 Sec. 662.056. CHARLES BELLINGER STEWART DAY. (a) February 6
1515 is Charles Bellinger Stewart Day in honor of Charles Bellinger
1616 Stewart, Texas statesman and signer of the Texas Declaration of
1717 Independence.
1818 (b) Charles Bellinger Stewart Day may be regularly observed
1919 by appropriate and patriotic programs in the public schools and
2020 other places to properly commemorate his life and achievements and
2121 to inspire a greater appreciation for the history of the pioneers
2222 and leaders of this state.
2323 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2424 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2525 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2626 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2727 Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
