9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 24, Government Code, is |
---|
11 | 11 | | amended by adding Section 24.034 to read as follows: |

12 | 12 | | Sec. 24.034. ASSIGNMENT OF CASES IN DISTRICT COURTS IN |
---|
13 | 13 | | HIDALGO COUNTY. (a) All civil and criminal cases in the district |
---|
14 | 14 | | courts in Hidalgo County shall be assigned and docketed at random by |
---|
15 | 15 | | the district clerk using an automated system. |
---|
16 | 16 | | (b) In assigning a case to a district court, the district |
---|
17 | 17 | | clerk shall take into consideration any requirement in Subchapter B |
---|
18 | 18 | | that a district court in Hidalgo County give preference to specific |
---|
19 | 19 | | matters. |
---|
20 | 20 | | SECTION 2. Sections 24.194(d), 24.195(d), 24.241(d), |
---|
21 | 21 | | 24.385(b), 24.452(b), 24.478(b), 24.515(b), 24.534(c), 24.543(c), |
---|
22 | 22 | | and 24.574(c), Government Code, are repealed. |
---|
23 | 23 | | SECTION 3. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
---|
24 | 24 | | to a case assigned to a Hidalgo County district court on or after |
---|
25 | 25 | | the effective date of this Act. |
---|
26 | 26 | | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
