| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 502.184(b), Transportation Code, is |

| 11 | 11 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | (b) No fee is required for the replacement of lost, stolen, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | or mutilated specialized license plates issued under Sections |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | 504.308 and 504.315(e), [and] (f), and (j). The fee for replacement |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | of certain specialized license plates is: |

| 25 | 25 | | plates issued under Section 504.315(c), (d), [or] (g), or (j) is |

| 26 | 26 | | $3. There is no additional fee for a specialty license plate |

| 27 | 27 | | issued under another provision of this subchapter. |

| 28 | 28 | | SECTION 3. Section 504.315, Transportation Code, is amended |

| 29 | 29 | | by adding Subsection (j) to read as follows: |

| 30 | 30 | | (j) The department shall issue specialty license plates for |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | persons who have received the French Legion of Honor and were |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | honorably discharged from the armed forces of the United States. |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | The license plates must include the words "Legion of Honor." |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Section 504.702 does not apply to license plates authorized by this |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | subsection. |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
