The bill would establish a diabetes self-management training pilot program within the Medicaid program at the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). It is assumed that HHSC would offer the program to approximately 1,000 participants per year and that the pilot program would end in fiscal year 2013. Federal matching funds are assumed and would offset the cost to the state. HHSC states that the cost of the pilot can be absorbed within existing resources.
