                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            March 8, 2009      TO: Honorable Rob Eissler, Chair, House Committee on Public Education      FROM: John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB200 by Heflin (Relating to continuing education requirements for public school principals.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would repeal Section 21.054(b), Education Code for certain continuing education requirements for public school principals and would no longer require principals to participate in the assessment process and professional growth activities every five years.  The provisions of the bill apply beginning with the 2009-2010 school year and take effect immediately with the necessary voting margins, otherwise the bill takes effect on September 1, 2009. Local Government Impact School districts may experience some administrative savings if continuing education requirements for public school principals are no longer required.
