| 10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Section 504.407(c), Transportation Code, is | |
| 12 | 12 | amended to read as follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | (c) A person applying for a set of license plates under this | |
| 14 | 14 | section shall pay the registration fee required under Chapter 502, | |
| 15 | 15 | except that one set of license plates shall be issued without | |
| 16 | 16 | payment of the registration fee. There is no additional fee for a | |
| 17 | 17 | license plate issued under this section [The fee for issuance of the | |
| 18 | 18 | license plates is $20]. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | |
| 20 | 20 | to a registration period beginning on or after the effective date of | |
| 21 | 21 | this Act. | |
| 22 | 22 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
