88 AN ACT
99 relating to the issuance of a master electrician license to certain
1010 persons performing electrical work in unincorporated areas of the
1111 state.
1212 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. (a) Notwithstanding any provision of Chapter
1414 1305, Occupations Code, to the contrary, the Texas Department of
1515 Licensing and Regulation shall issue a master electrician license
1616 to an applicant who:
1717 (1) has owned and operated an electrical business
1818 continuously since 1988;
1919 (2) performs electrical work exclusively in
2020 unincorporated areas of the state; and
2121 (3) pays an application fee prescribed by the
2222 department.
2323 (b) On the request of the executive director of the Texas
2424 Department of Licensing and Regulation, an applicant for a license
2525 issued under this section shall provide the executive director with
2626 detailed information of the electrical work performed by the
2727 applicant.
2828 (c) A person issued a license under this section is subject
2929 to Chapter 1305, Occupations Code.
3030 (d) The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation shall:
3131 (1) accept applications for a license issued under
3232 this section only between September 1, 2009, and September 7, 2009;
3333 and
3434 (2) publish notice of the application period under
3535 this section on the department's Internet website.
3636 SECTION 2. This Act expires September 8, 2009.
3737 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
