55 relating to the timing of a referendum election to continue a fire
66 control, prevention, and emergency medical services district.
77 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
88 SECTION 1. Section 344.251(d), Local Government Code, is
99 amended to read as follows:
1010 (d) The board may not hold a referendum election under this
1111 subchapter before the fourth [fifth] anniversary of the date the
1212 district was created or before the third anniversary of the date of
1313 the last continuation or dissolution referendum election.
1414 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1515 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1616 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
1717 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
1818 Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
