| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 123.005(a), Election Code, is amended to | |

| 12 | 12 | (a) Only [Except as otherwise provided by this code, only] | |
| 13 | 13 | one kind of voting system may be used at a polling place in an | |
| 14 | 14 | election, except: | |
| 15 | 15 | (1) that the authority adopting the voting system may | |
| 16 | 16 | provide for the use of direct recording electronic voting machines | |
| 17 | 17 | to cast a vote in addition to another method of casting a vote at the | |
| 18 | 18 | same polling place; or | |
| 19 | 19 | (2) as otherwise provided by this code. | |
| 20 | 20 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
