| 7 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 8 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Section 2551.001(c), Insurance Code, as |

| 9 | 9 | | effective April 1, 2009, is amended to read as follows: |

| 10 | 10 | | (c) To the extent applicable, the following provisions of |

| 31 | 31 | | SECTION 2. (a) The change in law made by this Act applies |

| 32 | 32 | | only to an action that the department or commissioner begins under |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Section 81.001, Insurance Code, on or after the effective date of |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | this Act. |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | (b) An action that the department or commissioner begins |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | under Section 81.001, Insurance Code, before the effective date of |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | this Act is covered by the law in effect immediately before the |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | effective date of this Act, and the former law is continued in |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | effect for that purpose. |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
