A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the assistance of appraisal districts by the
comptroller.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 5.05(b), Tax Code, is amended to read as
follows:
(b) The comptroller shall:
(1) revise or supplement all materials issued by the
comptroller or approve other publications periodically as
necessary to keep them current; and
(2) update an online general appraisal manual at least
once every two years.
SECTION 2. Section 5.08, Tax Code, is amended by adding
Subsection (c) to read as follows:
(c) To increase state uniformity in property appraisals
through the use of technology, the comptroller shall:
(1) identify effective Internet-based software and
other electronic tools that may be used by an appraisal district to
improve operations of the district; and
(2) make that software and those tools available
through the comptroller's Internet website for use by appraisal
districts on a voluntary basis.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
