8 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

9 | 9 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter G, Chapter 1701, Occupations Code, is |
---|
10 | 10 | | amended by adding Section 1701.3075 to read as follows: |
---|
11 | 11 | | Sec. 1701.3075. QUALIFIED APPLICANT AWAITING APPOINTMENT. |
---|
12 | 12 | | (a) A person who meets the requirements set forth in Section |
---|
13 | 13 | | 1701.307(a) has the same reporting responsibilities toward the |
---|
14 | 14 | | commission under rules adopted by the commission as a license |
---|
15 | 15 | | holder who has already been appointed as a peace officer. |
---|
16 | 16 | | (b) The commission may determine that a person who meets the |
---|
17 | 17 | | requirements under Section 1701.307(a) is ineligible for |
---|
18 | 18 | | appointment as a peace officer based on events that occur after the |
---|
19 | 19 | | person meets the requirements in Section 1701.307(a) but before the |
---|
20 | 20 | | person is appointed. |
---|
21 | 21 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
