| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 9002.101(a), Special District Local Laws | |
| 11 | 11 | Code, is amended to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (a) To the extent authorized by Section 52, Article III, | |
| 13 | 13 | Texas Constitution, the district may construct, acquire, improve, | |
| 14 | 14 | maintain, or operate macadamized, graveled, or paved roads [or | |
| 15 | 15 | turnpikes], or improvements in aid of those roads [or turnpikes, | |
| 16 | 16 | inside the district]. | |
| 17 | 17 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 18 | 18 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 19 | 19 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 20 | 20 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 21 | 21 | Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
