9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 21.0031, Education Code, is amended by | |
11 | 11 | adding Subsection (f) to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (f) For purposes of this section, a certificate or permit is | |
13 | 13 | not considered to have expired if: | |
14 | 14 | (1) the employee has completed the requirements for | |
15 | 15 | renewal of the certificate or permit; and | |
16 | 16 | (2) the date the certificate or permit would have | |
17 | 17 | expired is before the date the State Board for Educator | |
18 | 18 | Certification takes action to approve the renewal of the | |
19 | 19 | certificate or permit. | |
20 | 20 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
21 | 21 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
22 | 22 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
23 | 23 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
24 | 24 | Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
