10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Article 26.13, Code of Criminal Procedure, is | |
12 | 12 | amended by adding Subsection (j) to read as follows: | |
13 | 13 | (j) Before accepting a plea of guilty or a plea of nolo | |
14 | 14 | contendere for an offense for which a defendant is eligible to be | |
15 | 15 | placed on community supervision, including deferred adjudication | |
16 | 16 | community supervision, the judge shall explain to the defendant: | |
17 | 17 | (1) any condition of community supervision that may | |
18 | 18 | apply to the defendant; and | |
19 | 19 | (2) the possible consequences of violating a condition | |
20 | 20 | of community supervision imposed on the defendant. | |
21 | 21 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
