55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to information required of an applicant for a driver's
88 license.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 521.142(e), Transportation Code, is
1111 amended to read as follows:
1212 (e) The application must include any other information the
1313 department requires to determine the applicant's identity,
1414 competency, and eligibility, except the application may not include
1515 an inquiry as to whether the applicant has been diagnosed with,
1616 treated, or hospitalized for a psychiatric disorder.
1717 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
1818 to an application for a driver's license filed on or after the
1919 effective date of this Act. An application filed before the
2020 effective date of this Act is subject to the law in effect on the
2121 date of filing, and that law is continued in effect for that
2222 purpose.
2323 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
