8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Section 133.154(a), Local Government Code, is | |
10 | 10 | amended to read as follows: | |
11 | 11 | (a) In addition to other fees authorized or required by law, | |
12 | 12 | the clerk of a district court, statutory county court, or county | |
13 | 13 | court shall collect a fee of $42 on the filing of any civil suit or | |
14 | 14 | after the entry of a judgment nisi for the forfeiture of a bail | |
15 | 15 | bond. The fee is to be used for court-related purposes for the | |
16 | 16 | support of the judiciary. | |
17 | 17 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act to Section | |
18 | 18 | 133.154, Local Government Code, applies only to a bail bond that is | |
19 | 19 | executed on or after the effective date of this Act. A bail bond | |
20 | 20 | executed before the effective date of this Act is governed by the | |
21 | 21 | law in effect when the bail bond was executed, and the former law is | |
22 | 22 | continued in effect for that purpose. | |
23 | 23 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
