| 7 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 8 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 141, Local Government |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Code, is amended by adding Section 141.010 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Sec. 141.010. MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES IN TYPE A AND B |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | GENERAL-LAW MUNICIPALITIES. To the extent consistent with |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Subchapter B of this chapter and Chapters 142 and 143, the governing |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | body of a Type A or B general-law municipality may consider |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | longevity and cost of living in setting the salary of a municipal |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | employee. |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
