66 respondent of a complaint filed with the Texas Ethics Commission.
77 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
88 SECTION 1. Section 571.123(b), Government Code, is amended
99 to read as follows:
1010 (b) After a complaint is filed, the commission shall
1111 immediately attempt to contact and notify the respondent of the
1212 complaint by telephone or electronic mail. Not later than the fifth
1313 business day after the date a complaint is filed, the commission
1414 shall send written notice to the complainant and the respondent.
1515 The written notice to the complainant and the respondent must:
1616 (1) state whether the complaint complies with the form
1717 requirements of Section 571.122; and
1818 (2) if applicable, include the information required by
1919 Section 571.124(e).
2020 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2121 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2222 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2323 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2424 Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
