| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 15.971(1), Water Code, is amended to | |
| 11 | 11 | read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (1) "Eligible political subdivision" means a | |
| 13 | 13 | municipality, a county, a district or an authority created under | |
| 14 | 14 | Section 52, Article III, or Section 59, Article XVI, Texas | |
| 15 | 15 | Constitution, including [: | |
| 16 | 16 | [(A) a municipality; | |
| 17 | 17 | [(B) a county; | |
| 18 | 18 | [(C) a river authority or special law district | |
| 19 | 19 | that is listed in Section 9.010(b); | |
| 20 | 20 | [(D) a water improvement district; | |
| 21 | 21 | [(E) an irrigation district; | |
| 22 | 22 | [(F) a water control and improvement district; | |
| 23 | 23 | and | |
| 24 | 24 | [(G)] a groundwater conservation district with a | |
| 25 | 25 | groundwater management plan certified by the board under Section | |
| 26 | 26 | 36.1072, any other political subdivision of this state, any | |
| 27 | 27 | interstate compact commission to which this state is a party, and | |
| 28 | 28 | any nonprofit water supply corporation created and operating under | |
| 29 | 29 | Chapter 67. | |
| 30 | 30 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
