7 | 7 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
8 | 8 | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 3100, Government Code, is | |
9 | 9 | amended by adding Section 3100.073 to read as follows: | |
10 | 10 | Sec. 3100.073. FOLDED STATE FLAG. (a) The state flag | |
11 | 11 | should be folded as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (1) fold the flag in half lengthwise with the red | |
13 | 13 | stripe facing upward; | |
14 | 14 | (2) fold the flag in half lengthwise once more, | |
15 | 15 | concealing the red stripe on the inside of the fold; | |
16 | 16 | (3) position the flag with the white star facing | |
17 | 17 | downward and the blue stripe facing upward; | |
18 | 18 | (4) fold the corner with the white stripe to the | |
19 | 19 | opposite side of the flag to form a triangle; | |
20 | 20 | (5) continue folding the corners over in triangles | |
21 | 21 | until the resulting fold produces a blue triangle with a portion of | |
22 | 22 | the white star visible; and | |
23 | 23 | (6) secure all edges into the folds. | |
24 | 24 | (b) A folded state flag should be presented or displayed | |
25 | 25 | with all folded edges secured and with the blue stripe and a portion | |
26 | 26 | of the white star visible. | |
27 | 27 | (c) A folded state flag should be stored or displayed in a | |
28 | 28 | manner that prevents tearing or soiling of the flag. | |
29 | 29 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
