77 relating to the payment of a judgment against the state in favor of
88 Marilou Morrison.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. (a) For payment to Marilou Morrison according to
1111 the terms of a judgment in the case of Marilou Morrison v. Texas
1212 Commission on Human Rights, Texas Workforce Commission, Cause No.
1313 D-1-GN-03-00863, 353rd District Court, there is appropriated to the
1414 comptroller of public accounts from the General Revenue Fund
1515 Account No. 0001 an amount not to exceed $900,000 plus postjudgment
1616 interest for the state fiscal biennium beginning September 1, 2009.
1717 (b) A warrant may not be prepared for payment of the
1818 judgment unless the judgment is:
1919 (1) certified by the attorney general as being final
2020 with no further appeals available; and
2121 (2) approved by the attorney general as a legally
2222 enforceable obligation of the state.
2323 (c) Following the certification and approval under
2424 Subsection (b) of this section, the comptroller of public accounts
2525 shall issue a warrant as soon as possible in favor of Marilou
2626 Morrison in payment of the judgment and mail or deliver the warrant
2727 to Marilou Morrison or her authorized representative.
2828 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
