9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. (a) For payment to Marilou Morrison according to | |
11 | 11 | the terms of a judgment in the case of Marilou Morrison v. Texas | |
12 | 12 | Commission on Human Rights, Texas Workforce Commission, Cause No. | |
13 | 13 | D-1-GN-03-00863, 353rd District Court, there is appropriated to the | |
14 | 14 | comptroller of public accounts from the General Revenue Fund | |
15 | 15 | Account No. 0001 an amount not to exceed $900,000 plus postjudgment | |
16 | 16 | interest for the state fiscal biennium beginning September 1, 2009. | |
17 | 17 | (b) A warrant may not be prepared for payment of the | |
18 | 18 | judgment unless the judgment is: | |
19 | 19 | (1) certified by the attorney general as being final | |
20 | 20 | with no further appeals available; and | |
21 | 21 | (2) approved by the attorney general as a legally | |
22 | 22 | enforceable obligation of the state. | |
23 | 23 | (c) Following the certification and approval under | |
24 | 24 | Subsection (b) of this section, the comptroller of public accounts | |
25 | 25 | shall issue a warrant as soon as possible in favor of Marilou | |
26 | 26 | Morrison in payment of the judgment and mail or deliver the warrant | |
27 | 27 | to Marilou Morrison or her authorized representative. | |
28 | 28 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
