| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 21, Education Code, is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | amended by adding Section 21.0453 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Sec. 21.0453. CONSUMER INFORMATION REGARDING EDUCATOR |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | PREPARATION PROGRAMS. (a) To assist persons interested in |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | obtaining teaching certification in selecting an educator |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | preparation program, the board shall make the following information |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | regarding educator preparation programs available on the board's |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Internet website: |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (1) the results of any exit surveys given to program |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | participants on completion of each program that involve evaluation |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | of the program's effectiveness; |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (2) statistics regarding the average length of time |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | that persons completing each program remain in the teaching |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | profession; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (3) any other information determined appropriate by |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | the board. |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | (b) The board shall: |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | (1) make written materials containing the information |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | described by Subsection (a) available to interested persons on |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | request; and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | (2) require educator preparation programs to provide |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | the written materials described by Subdivision (1) to each person |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | interested in seeking admission to the program. |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | (c) For purposes of Subsection (a)(1), the board may require |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | an educator preparation program to distribute an exit survey to |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | program participants on completion of the program. |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
