| 6 | 6 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 7 | 7 | | SECTION 1. Section 504.202, Transportation Code, is amended |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | by amending Subsection (e) and adding Subsection (h) to read as |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | follows: |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | (e) Other than license plates issued under Subsection (h), |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | license [License] plates issued under this section must include: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | (1) the letters "DV" as a prefix or suffix to any |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | numeral on the plate; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (2) the words "Disabled Veteran" and "U.S. Armed |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Forces" at the bottom of each license plate. |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (h) A person entitled to license plates under this section |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | may elect to receive license plates issued under Chapter 502 under |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the same conditions for the issuance of license plates under this |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | section. |

| 20 | 20 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
