55 relating to designating October as Hydrocephalus Awareness Month.
66 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
77 SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 662, Government Code, is
88 amended by adding Section 662.106 to read as follows:
99 Sec. 662.106. HYDROCEPHALUS AWARENESS MONTH. (a) October
1010 is Hydrocephalus Awareness Month to:
1111 (1) increase public awareness of hydrocephalus, a
1212 serious neurological condition characterized by the abnormal
1313 buildup of cerebrospinal fluids in the ventricles of the brain; and
1414 (2) encourage the development of partnerships between
1515 the federal government, health care professionals, and patient
1616 advocacy groups to advance the public's understanding of the
1717 condition, improve the diagnosis and treatment of the condition,
1818 and support research for a cure.
1919 (b) Hydrocephalus Awareness Month shall be regularly
2020 observed by appropriate activities in public schools and other
2121 places to increase awareness of hydrocephalus.
2222 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
