| 8 | 8 | | provided by school districts and public school teachers. |

| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 7.060, Education Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | (c) In addition to the requirements otherwise prescribed by |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | this section, the commissioner shall adopt policies that result in |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | a reduction of at least 10 percent in the total amount of written |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | paperwork, reports, and other information that a school district is |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | required by the agency to prepare, as determined in comparison to |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | the total amount of written paperwork, reports, and other |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | information required to be prepared by a school district during the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | 2008-2009 school year. The policies must be implemented beginning |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | not later than the 2010-2011 school year. This subsection expires |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | September 1, 2011. |

| 22 | 22 | | SECTION 2. Section 11.164, Education Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (d) In addition to the requirements otherwise prescribed by |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | this section, the board of trustees of each school district shall |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | adopt policies that result in a reduction of at least 10 percent in |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | the total amount of written information that a teacher is required |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | to prepare, as determined in comparison to the total amount of |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | written information required to be prepared by a teacher during the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | 2008-2009 school year. A school district shall implement the |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | policies required by this subsection beginning not later than the |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | 2010-2011 school year. This subsection expires September 1, 2011. |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
