| 10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 281, Health and Safety |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Code, is amended by adding Section 281.0282 to read as follows: |

| 13 | 13 | | Sec. 281.0282. DALLAS COUNTY HOSPITAL DISTRICT; EMPLOYMENT |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | OF HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS. (a) The board of the Dallas County |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Hospital District may appoint, contract for, or employ physicians, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | dentists, and other health care providers as the board considers |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | necessary for the efficient operation of the district. |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (b) The term of an employment contract entered into under |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | this section may not exceed four years. |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (c) This section may not be construed as authorizing the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | board of the Dallas County Hospital District to supervise or |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | control the practice of medicine, as prohibited by Subtitle B, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Title 3, Occupations Code. |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
