66 AN ACT
77 relating to the appointment and qualifications of bailiffs for
88 certain courts in Cameron County.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 53.001, Government Code, is amended by
1111 adding Subsection (k) to read as follows:
1212 (k) Each district court judge in Cameron County may appoint
1313 bailiffs.
1414 SECTION 2. Section 53.004, Government Code, is amended by
1515 adding Subsection (h) to read as follows:
1616 (h) To be eligible to be appointed as a bailiff in a district
1717 or statutory county court in Cameron County under Section
1818 53.001(k), a person must be at least 21 years old, be of good moral
1919 character, and hold a peace officer license issued under Chapter
2020 1701, Occupations Code, from the Commission on Law Enforcement
2121 Officer Standards and Education.
2222 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
