13 | 13 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
14 | 14 | SECTION 1. Section 662.005(b), Government Code, is amended | |
15 | 15 | to read as follows: | |
16 | 16 | (b) Except as provided by Section 662.010, and | |
17 | 17 | notwithstanding Section 659.015 or another law, a state employee | |
18 | 18 | who is a peace officer commissioned by a state officer or state | |
19 | 19 | agency listed under Article 2.12, Code of Criminal Procedure, or | |
20 | 20 | who is employed by the Department of Public Safety either to perform | |
21 | 21 | communications or dispatch services related to traffic law | |
22 | 22 | enforcement or as a public security officer, as that term is defined | |
23 | 23 | by Section 1701.001, Occupations Code, or who is employed by the | |
24 | 24 | Parks and Wildlife Department to perform communications and | |
25 | 25 | dispatch services to assist the law enforcement officers | |
26 | 26 | commissioned by the Parks and Wildlife Commission in performing law | |
27 | 27 | enforcement duties, and who is required to work on a national or | |
28 | 28 | state holiday that falls on a Saturday or Sunday is entitled to | |
29 | 29 | compensatory time off at the rate of one hour for each hour worked | |
30 | 30 | on the holiday. | |
31 | 31 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
