| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 61.013, Election Code, as added by | |
| 11 | 11 | Chapter 1182, Acts of the 80th Legislature, Regular Session, 2007, | |
| 12 | 12 | is amended by adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | (a-1) This subsection applies to an election of a political | |
| 14 | 14 | subdivision other than a county. Notwithstanding Subsection (a), | |
| 15 | 15 | for an election of a political subdivision with a population of less | |
| 16 | 16 | than 5,000, other than an election that is held jointly with another | |
| 17 | 17 | election in which a federal office appears on the ballot, the | |
| 18 | 18 | political subdivision is not required to meet the requirements of | |
| 19 | 19 | Section 61.012(a)(1)(C). | |
| 20 | 20 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
