77 relating to the filing by political committees of reports of
88 political contributions and expenditures in connection with a
99 runoff election.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Section 254.124(e), Election Code, is amended to
1212 read as follows:
1313 (e) In addition to other required reports, the campaign
1414 treasurer of a specific-purpose committee that supports or opposes
1515 a candidate in a [an election and an ensuing] runoff election shall
1616 file one report for the runoff election. The runoff election
1717 report must be received by the authority with whom the report is
1818 required to be filed not later than the eighth day before runoff
1919 election day. The report covers the period beginning the ninth day
2020 before the date of the main election and continuing through the 10th
2121 day before runoff election day.
2222 SECTION 2. Section 254.154(e), Election Code, is amended to
2323 read as follows:
2424 (e) In addition to other required reports, the campaign
2525 treasurer of a general-purpose committee involved in a [an election
2626 and an ensuing] runoff election shall file one report for the runoff
2727 election. The runoff election report must be received by the
2828 authority with whom the report is required to be filed not earlier
2929 than the 10th day or later than the eighth day before runoff
3030 election day. The report covers the period beginning the ninth day
3131 before the date of the main election and continuing through the 10th
3232 day before runoff election day.
3333 SECTION 3. Sections 254.124(e) and 254.154(e), Election
3434 Code, as amended by this Act, apply only to a runoff election that
3535 follows an election held on or after September 1, 2009.
3636 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
