                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            March 31, 2009      TO: Honorable Dan Branch, Chair, House Committee on Higher Education      FROM: John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB399 by Villarreal (Relating to state employees' enrollment in the higher education savings plan and the prepaid tuition unit undergraduate education program.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Education Code and provide that the Employee Retirement System enter into an interagency agreement with the Prepaid Higher Education Tuition Board to market the pre-paid tuition program and higher education savings program to state employees. It is assumed that any additional costs associated with implementation of the bill could be absorbed within existing state resources. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
