O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE:HB401 by Raymond (Relating to the authority of certain political subdivisions to change the date of their general elections. ), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would amend the Election Code to permit a governing body of a political subdivision, otherthan a county, that holds its general election for officers on a date other than the November date to change the election date to the November uniform election date. The bill would require the governing body to make the change no later than December 31, 2010. The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all members elected to each house. If the bill does not receive the necessary votes, the bill would take effect September 1, 2009. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
